Jammu & Kashmir after getting additional Haj seats have total 6494 pilgrims going to Haj. This year J&K Haj quota was 5606 seats. Total 21837 interested pilgrims applied for Haj Pilgrimage. So there are good number of applicants in waiting list. Now after getting additional quota of 881 seats, J&K and more nine seats under ‘Surplus Seats Allocated (2)’, the final quota for Jammu & Kashmir has now settled at 6494.
Haj Committee is able to allocate additional Haj Quota due to the surrendered seats from the state of Bihar, Assam, Tripura and West Bengal. These surrendered seats are reallocated as per percentage of Muslim Population among all which received more applications than their present Haj quota.
